Rivet Wars is a creation of Super Robot Punch and published by CoolMiniOrNot. It was successfully kickstarted February 4, 2013. The US shipping of the first wave (core game) was considered complete on January 3, 2014. Worldwide shipping of first wave was considered complete on January 23, 2014.

Rivet Wars was aquired by Steamforged Games in July 2022 and announced via Rivet Wars mailing list on July 15th 2022. Steamforged Games soon after announced Rivet Wars: Reloaded and the new Kickstarter Scheduled for September 6th, 2022. The also announced the third faction: Nemoans.
